Altrincham Garrick Panto 2026: Robin Hood, 30 Shows

The Altrincham Garrick’s pantomime this year is Robin Hood, and it runs for 30 performances from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. Tickets are £17 to £22 and have been on sale since 1 December last year.

The theatre’s own website does not tell you any of the dates. Its show page leaves the date range blank and shows a single stray time, so the schedule below comes from the Garrick’s box office system, which is where the tickets actually live.

The performance list

Evenings are 7.30pm. Weekend and holiday shows are matinees at 1.30pm and early evenings at 5.30pm.

There is nothing on 24, 25 or 26 December, or on New Year’s Day. The theatre is also dark on 7, 8 and 9 December, on 14, 15 and 16 December, and on 21 December. New Year’s Eve is a matinee only.

Which performances are filling up

The Garrick’s main house seats 401, so the run holds 12,030 seats in total. On the morning of 4 September, 2,950 of them had gone, about a quarter of the run, three months out.

They are not going evenly.

The Sunday matinee before Christmas is the one to worry about. Sunday 20 December at 1.30pm has 86 seats left of 401, four fifths gone in early September. Behind it come Saturday 12 December at 1.30pm with 154 left and Sunday 27 December at 1.30pm with 174 left.

The pattern is straightforward and it is worth using. Afternoon shows on a Saturday or Sunday are going three to five times faster than weekday evenings. Thursday 17 December and Wednesday 30 December have both sold 24 seats. Saturday 2 January at 5.30pm has sold 21. Opening night on Friday 4 December has sold 26.

If you want a family group of six sitting together at a reasonable price, the midweek evenings and the early January shows are wide open and will stay that way for months. If you want the Sunday before Christmas, book now.

The relaxed performance

There is one relaxed performance, on Saturday 12 December at 5.30pm. The theatre describes it as running with no pyrotechnics, the house lights up on the cast, an introduction from the director and cast, and quieter sound effects and music.

It is the same show and it is not a reduced version. It had 366 of 401 seats free in early September, so unlike the matinee three and a half hours earlier that day, it is not under pressure.

Prices, and the extras

Tickets are £17 to £22, set by seat area rather than by date.

• The programme is £6, bought at the same time as your ticket and collected from the theatre on the day of the performance. It is a separate item, so it is easy to miss at checkout.
• Friends of the Garrick get discounted tickets. If you are going more than once over the season, that is the sum worth doing before you book.

The theatre is a registered charity, number 1034690, and the Garrick Society is a company limited by guarantee, so ticket money stays in the building.

Age guidance and content

The theatre recommends the show for ages 3 and over, and is unusually straightforward about why that comes with caveats.

Its own warning: panto is “A LOT of fun, but sometimes it can be quite loud, and a little bit cheeky, with some jokes that only grown-ups will understand”, and the effects include loud bangs, flashing lights and pyrotechnics. That is the reason the relaxed performance exists.

Robin Hood is written by Tom Whalley and directed by Joseph Meighan, with the Sheriff of Nottingham, Maid Marian, Silly Willy and Nanny Fanny in the cast list.
