St George's Church opens a bookable Santa's grotto on Saturday 28 November, in half-hour slots from 2pm. Plus last year's free library Santa visits locally.
The first Santa’s grotto in Altrincham with 2026 tickets on sale is at St George’s Church, on Saturday 28 November, during the church’s Christmas Fayre. Slots are half an hour and booked in advance. Most of the other Santa visits around Altrincham have not been dated yet; last year’s are below.

St George’s Church, Saturday 28 November
St George’s TicketSource page was selling slots on 25 September at 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. It promises the chance to “share your Christmas wishes, and receive a special gift from the man in red himself”. The price is shown when you choose a slot.
The grotto sits inside the church’s free Christmas Fayre, 2pm to 5pm, with stalls, choirs, food and crafts. The church says it charges for the grotto to cover costs, and asks anyone worried about the money to get in touch rather than stay away, on its Christmas page.

Free library visits, last year
Trafford Libraries ran free “Santa/Christmas characters” drop-ins in the last days before Christmas 2025, according to the council’s events calendar. These were the ones in and around Altrincham:
