Gandeys' Snowstorm: A Frozen Adventure puts circus on a real ice rink at the Trafford Centre from 4 December. Show times, seats from £11.95 and the story.

Gandeys’ Christmas ice show is coming back to the Trafford Centre with a new story. Snowstorm: A Frozen Adventure runs from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 at The Clearing Event Space, M17 8AA, on a real ice rink inside the company’s Big Top.

It is the sixth Snowstorm: the booking page calls it “Snowstorm 6” and says it follows “five sensational years of sell-out performances”. The producer, Gandey World Class Productions, sent us the announcement and its media pack. The pictures below are from earlier Snowstorm shows, because this one has not been staged yet.

The story this year

This year’s show is built on a story. In Gandeys’ words, a “beautiful and much-loved Princess” has attracted the jealousy of a wicked Witch, who casts a spell and imprisons her inside “a mysterious magic box”. The box is guarded by a dragon, and the dragon has to be dealt with before the spell can be broken.

The company says the acts are woven through that story rather than lined up one after another: “circus, skating, music, comedy and theatrical production” all carry it along. When the Princess is freed, the show ends in a Christmas finale.

A spokesperson for Gandey World Class Productions said:

“Snowstorm has become a really special part of Christmas at the Trafford Centre, but we never want audiences to feel they’re coming back to see the same show.

“This year we’ve created A Frozen Adventure, with a completely new story at its heart.

“There is everything audiences expect from Snowstorm, incredible international skaters, world-class circus, aerial performance and the Wheel of Death, but they’re now part of this wonderful adventure involving our Princess, a wicked Witch and a rather formidable dragon.

“We want the children completely caught up in whether the Princess can be rescued, while the adults are sitting beside them wondering how on earth some of our performers are doing what they’re doing.

“And when good finally triumphs, the frozen world is transformed for a spectacular Christmas celebration finale. It’s a lovely moment when the whole production changes gear and Christmas really arrives in the Big Top.”

What is in the show

The release names three things:

  • The Wheel of Death, a giant rotating apparatus above the rink, where performers “race, leap and balance”.
  • Aerial artistes working above the audience.
  • An international company of skaters on the ice below.

Gandeys says the audience sits close: the skaters pass “just metres away” and the circus acts perform overhead. It pitches the show as something “very different from the traditional festive pantomime”.
